Rhythm To Spare is the 2015 Kilmore Cup Winner

November 23rd, 2015

Rhythm To Spare was unable to produce much of a consistent run of form through the Spring Carnival but has returned to the winner’s circle in style when taking out the featured 2015 Kilmore Cup (1600m) on Sunday.

Jumping from the gates well, Rhythm To Spare was allowed to stride forward by jockey Mark Zahra and immediately took up a position at the fore of the field of thirteen; setting a reasonable tempo.

Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, Rhythm To Spare immediately responded when asked for an extra effort by Zahra; producing a slick turn of foot to pull clear and hit the line a head in the green of Eximus.

Zahra delivered a gem of a ride aboard Rhythm To Spare to win the 2015 Kilmore Cup and believes the six-year-old is now primed to find peak condition in his next run.

“I’ve been going alright, I’ve had a good spring apart from Cup week. It was good to get a chance today for Mike (Moroney, trainer) and the team, and the horse did well,” Zahra said after the 2015 Kilmore Cup.

“I was really happy where I was because with a big weight around this track, he was just in his rhythm the whole way and really relaxed.

“Every time I clicked him up, he picked up underneath me. I was very confident coming into the straight.

“He’s had a lot of runs this time in – maybe next time.

“He’s done well in the ground today, but he obviously needs the cut out of it.

“If he gets the right conditions, he’ll win a nice race.”

Rhythm To Spare posted an eighth victory in taking out the 2015 Kilmore Cup, in a career that has also included four minors through a total of twenty-seven appearances.
